No. 01 · Why podcasts

Why advertise on podcasts?

Because listeners trust the host. A host-read ad comes in a voice people chose to spend an hour with, inside a show they picked. Podcasts now reach most adults in markets like the US and Australia, and more people watch shows on YouTube and Spotify as well as hear them.

58%

of Americans aged 12+ listened to a podcast in the last month, the highest on record.

57%

of Americans have listened to or watched a podcast with video, up from 48% a year earlier.

55%

of Australians aged 10+ listen to podcasts every month, up from 52% in 2025.

No. 02 · Ad formats

Which podcast ad formats do we run?

Four ways to put your brand inside a show. We pick the format by goal and budget, and test on several shows before scaling.

01

Host-read ads

The host reads your ad in their own words, before, in the middle of or at the end of the episode. Mid-roll usually gets the most attention.

02

Baked-in or dynamic reads

Baked-in reads stay in the episode for good. Dynamic reads run for a set period and can be targeted by market. We tell you which each show offers.

03

Video podcast reads

Reads that also work on screen, for shows watched on YouTube and Spotify, with your link in the video description.

04

Multi-show test flights

A set of matched shows with more than one episode each, so you learn which audiences buy before you scale.

FAQ

What do brands ask before advertising on podcasts?

Straight answers to the questions we hear on sales calls.

What is podcast advertising?

Paying for your brand to be mentioned in a podcast episode, most often as an ad read by the host. It can run before, in the middle of or at the end of an episode, in audio and in the video version of the show.

What is a host-read ad?

An ad the host reads in their own words, often with a short story about using the product. Listeners trust the host, so host-read ads usually get a better response than produced spots. In Magellan AI’s Q1 2026 benchmark, host-read ads had a 2.45% response rate against 1.51% for produced spots.

What is the difference between baked-in and dynamic ads?

Baked-in reads are recorded into the episode and stay there for good, so they keep earning listens. Dynamic reads are inserted for a set period and can be targeted by market or date. Many shows offer both, at different prices.

How much does podcast advertising cost?

Campaigns start from €10,000 a month for show fees and management. Shows usually price by CPM (cost per thousand downloads) or a flat fee per episode, depending on their size, the slot and the market.

How do you measure results?

Each show gets its own promo code and link, so sales and sign-ups are tied to the episode. We also track visits from the show notes and video description, and suggest a “how did you hear about us?” question at checkout. Responses keep coming for weeks after an episode airs.

How many shows should we test?

We usually start with a test on several shows, with more than one episode on each, so one booking does not decide the result. Then we move budget to the shows that sell.

Do you work with video podcasts?

Yes. Many shows are now watched on YouTube and Spotify as well as heard, so we plan reads that work on screen too, with your link in the video description.

Which markets can you cover?

We run campaigns in 35+ markets and 30+ languages, with shows in the local language where your buyers are.

Can we approve the script?

Yes. You approve the talking points and every script before it is recorded. Hosts still put it in their own words, because that is what makes the read work.

How fast can we start?

We reply within one business day and send a free shortlist of matched shows. Most shows book sponsors a few weeks ahead, so first episodes usually air 3–4 weeks after you approve the shows.
